Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My fees are priced to provide exceptional quality at a good value. In addition, I offer discounts on some studio weekday headshots and portraits.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Understanding the types and styles of images you need helps meet or exceeding your expectations. Images only have value if they achieve the customer's goals and purpose. I work with the customer to understand their desires. This allows me to capture the images that are most important to them.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Photography has been a lifelong passion. I have a master's degree in Instructional Systems Technology (IST) focus on photography from Indiana University. My many years of work experience as a magazine photographer has honed my skill. I participated in many workshops and seminars.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started processing film and prints while I was in junior high. My degree in Instructional Technology honed my skill, which has further developed when I worked as a magazine photographer.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with many people from different professions, including medical, dance, theater, business, and politics. I have also worked with families including reunions, graduations, and weddings.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have recently completed a series of portraits of ballet dancers. These images were recognized for the quality, drama, and poetry of dance. It takes a special skill to convey motion and performance in a still image. I have also recently completed several high-fashion portraits.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone who is skilled and has an artistic flair. Anyone can snap a picture, but it takes good equipment, excellent skill, and compositional knowledge to create images you will cherish forever.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Examine the photographer's skill and experience. Study their images to see how creative they are. Spending a little extra for a skilled professional can significantly improve the images you receive. Be sure to ask if you will receive unlimited rights to the images. It can cost you much more in the long run if you do not have unlimited rights for the personal use of the images.
